Learning Agenda

The Learning Agenda shares TaRL Africa’s current learning priorities and provides a framework and set of questions to investigate.

Many studies have proven that Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL)  is an effective method for improving learning outcomes in a variety of settings. However, there is still much to learn about how to best implement TaRL in different African contexts. The Learning Agenda shares TaRL Africa’s current learning priorities and provides a framework and a set of questions to investigate.

These questions are grouped into three key themes:

  1. Teaching Learning, focusing on the approach at the classroom level.
  2. Teacher Support, including training, mentoring, and monitoring systems which ensure teachers implement the approach
  3. Long-term impact and government sustainability, including systems change questions.

Throughout these themes, our priority is to learn in a way that informs decisions made by governments and partners working with governments. We hope that this learning can also inform the academic debate, especially on topics pertaining to how to scale and sustain the impact of an effective education intervention. We plan to use the TaRL website to continue sharing lessons as they emerge.

The TaRL Africa Learning Continuum

Learning is an ongoing process, we think about it as a continuum, ranging from monitoring and response, piloting programmatic innovations, and rigorous research and evaluation.
